Kit Hope Film Festival

Back when she was an OC Mensan, Kit Hope (now in Metropolitan Washington Mensa) would put on a themed film festival at the turn of each year. In her honor, we continued her event each year on the Third Sunday of January for five years.

  • Here are some photos from my Dad's place.

All good things must end, and the Kit Hope Film Festival is no exception. The Kit Hope Film Festivals are gone, but not forgotten. Let's remember them, year by year:

Kit now works for FEMA, handling disasters in the field -- and The Goddess Kristine left for the wreckage of Hurricane Matthew in South Carolina in mid-November. This year's theme is therefore What A Disaster!!!, and includes the following triple-feature:

These disasters are even beyond the heck-of-a-job capabilities of Brownie!

Peanuts, popcorn, candy, and soft drinks will be served all afternoon. Arrive when you like; leave when you like. No RSVP, no door charge.

Third Sunday, January 17th, 2016, Noon - 8:00 PM

Third Sunday, January 18th, 2015, Noon - 7:00 PM
The Second Annual Kit Hope Film Festival

The theme of this year's festival is Shirley, you jest. Showtimes and titles are:

      • 12:00 pm – 1:35 pmThe Bliss of Mrs. Blossom (1968; 1:35). A delightful comedy about a workaholic brassiere manufacturer, a lover in the attic, and the blissful Mrs. Blossom. You’ll never look at a bra (or an attic!) the same.
      • 2:00 pm – 4:10 pm: Being There (1979; 2:10). Chance, a simple gardener, has never left the estate until the old man dies. All he knows of the world comes from watching TV. He likes to watch.

      • 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm: Airplane! (1980; 1:28). Food poisoning strikes the passengers and crew of a 747. The only person capable of landing the plane is an ex-pilot who is afraid to fly. Don’t call him Shirley!

Peanuts, popcorn, candy, and soft drinks will be served all afternoon. Arrive when you like; leave when you like.

No RSVP, no door charge, and don't call me "Shirley"!
